Help This Little Coonhound

This poor little thing tried to chew her leg off to get free.

Starved & thirsty & in pain

She needs help - can you help her to live???

I got a call this morning from the a.c.warden “we have a mess out here!” So I flew out of my house, and got to the pound as quickly as I could.

We believe this girl was caught in a trap, and began to eat her own leg so she could free herself, this wound is about 2 weeks old…the smell is unreal!!! I am still shaking and crying…..sigh…… The whole time she was wagging her tail, and I scooped her up, put her in my truck and raced to the vets.

She is in real bad shape, her heart rate is low she is extremely emaciated, dehydrated, and of course her leg. The immediately gave her pain meds, and some sedation meds, the vet did a heartworm check which is negative, and started her on IV fluids, and have done a blood panel, which is showing her liver is very stressed.

She is going to have surgery in the morning to remove her leg at the hip.

She is in good spirits now, but we are not sure she is going to make it.

I need donations please!! I do this on my own and don’t have many resources to pay for something this big but I couldn’t just have her put down..if she was able to survive with all the rain and cold nights and not killed by other animals and was able to make it this far……..she needs to be given a chance, please if you can help me, I can give you a receipt since I have my 501c non for profit.

She is at the Hancock Vet Clinic in Hamilton, IL
