Angels of Hope

This page was set up to help an adorable

and loving little dog named Lucky

Lucky's Story

In February of 2005 Lucky was posted on pet finders at a shelter

Apparently he had been hit by a car and his owner just dumped him at the shelter so he wouldn't have to deal with it. Our foster leader ask if I would take him and of course I said yes.

It took a month to get them to release him while all this time he lay on cold concrete & cried with pain.

We finally got him in March (St Patty's Day) and I immediately took him to the vet for a check up. It seemed he had spinal damage and there was little hope he would be OK. It had gone on to long without any care. As time went on he cried more & would scream in pain.

This baby is only between 2 -3 years old. To young to be PTS without trying to help him.

I decided to take him to a specialist and last night he had his first checkup. They are going to do some tests & filming but really feel there is hope for him to live a pain free life for years to come. I just could not give up on him without trying.

Here is the situation. It is going to cost some money to help him and the foster group cannot afford to pay it and unfortunately neither can I.

Therefore I have set up a fund for him called Lucky's Fund.

We are asking anyone who can to help with donations to give this baby a chance at life.

Without this help he will not be here long. He is on steroids now for the pain but they will eventually take his life.

Please give him a chance. He wants so bad to run and play like the other dogs and he deserves that chance.

It doesn't matter how much or how little - it all will help.

I know there are angels out there who care.

We are pleading for his life.

Thank you from Lucky and his Foster mom.

I will update this page as he goes through his treatments

UPDATE!!!

11/15/05

Just got home from the vets office with Lucky.

This baby has a chance for a normal life.

He took microfilms (a lot) of his whole back. A couple at his neck are just a little degenerated but they are OK nothing to worry about.

He only has one bad one so far and it is in his back up from the tail. That's the one that is causing all the pain and that's where he bites at & screams.

It is completely defused and gone & pushed down and pinching all the nerves in his spine. The others are OK so far but this one is pulling on the ones on either side.

He wants to send him to their other clinic for surgery next week. I said I needed to get the money as this must be paid when the operation is done.

It will cost (estimate $1200-$1300)

Without it he will eventually be PTS from either his back injury or from the steroids.

He's only 2-3 years old and a real sweetheart. To young to die.

Once he has the operation he said he will walk & run better & be free of pain & can live a normal life. And he can get off the steroids completely.

I need to raise the money to help him.

If any one can help at all - there is a fund set up for him below.

Please help me save this baby's life.

Thank you from Lucky & his foster mom

God Bless you.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amount needed for Surgery

(This will be updated as I am notified)

Surgery Estimate

$1300.00

I picked up the copy today

We made it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's enough to pay his surgery.

And his visit back to the vet afterwards.

I cried a million tears today.

The girls at work ask what was wrong- I said Nothing - He's going to live!!!

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. You saved a very special baby's life.

God sent his little creature lots of angels

My last several months of tears of sadness are now turned into tears of joy.

They scheduled his surgery for the Monday after Thanksgiving as it takes 3-5 days for the money to transfer and have the bill paid. So since it has to be paid on the day of the surgery I wanted to be sure it went though OK. He is on meds for pain so he will be Ok till then the vet said.

I will keep you updated on his progress here & thru emails.

Thank you all for your donations & prayers for Lucky and I know he thanks you too.

He will be able to run & play like he wants to & be a normal dog again.

No more pain - No more steriods.

God Bless you all!

He does answer prayer!

We love you!

UPDATE!!!!

11/28/05

Lucky came thru the surgery great.

Will update this this evening as he is not out of the woods yet. He was still asleep and I will get the details from his doctor at 5 pm when I call. Apparently there was more damage but it can be controlled with pain meds & maybe some therapy. He will be OFF the steriods and will be able to live pain free with medication(that won't hurt him)

The doctor said he was really hit hard & being he was not taken care of immediately - it took its toll.

But he's alive & will continue to be & have a normal life.

More after 5

Thank you all.

6:30 PM

Hang there - I called the vet & he was busy with appts

He will call me back

I just called to check on him & the girl laughed & said yes he is busy but will call you & then she was a dear & went & looked at him & said he is sleeping like a baby & is fine so at least I feel better

Well post after I hear.

Thanks
